Next painting I do I'm going to use a brush made from a photo of my face. This has a bit of a "family photo" type look to it with the head on angle. Might experiment with cropping it a little differently, looks like you've got a few tangents going on on the sides of the piece. Balance feels a little left heavy too.
The mace looks a bit weightless - it'd be nice if you placed it a bit lower, as if it was sinking into his shoulder. Also, it looks like it bends a bit, though it probably would do that in real life.
