I'll take Zak's Robot Ninja and raise you a Zombie Pirate

Cartoons

Via craigslist I picked up a gig drawing cartoons for a guy's blog. He has a daily post about random stuff and he emails me telling me what kind of cartoon he wants and what the caption should be. From there I am free to interpret. It's been a fun exercise and some of them are NSFW, which are my favorite kinds of cartoons to draw. I try to vary my styles when I can, but usually he tends to prefer a more realistic approach.

I love cartooning and I've been trying to become more thoughtful about how I compose a scene, and take more time planning things out and working on my inking skills. I still have a ways to go, and I'm still a bit scared of adding value, but baby steps are good. Below are some of my favorites.

SuperGirl

As we've seen on this blog, Tim draws kick ass superheroes. I've wanted to paint one of his pencils for a while, but I never have time to do anything I really want to do. Finally this weekend I was able to sneak some time in on it. Hopefully I did it some justice.

First post. Be kind.

This was me trying my hand at concept art a few years ago. Robot Ninja, by the way.

I haven't done any painting in a long time. Work's kept me too busy to goof off and I haven't yet hooked up the tablet to the iMac at home.

I'll try and throw a few things up over the next few weeks with the hope that it'll get me pumped to do some more, newer stuff.

New work-in-progress... gonna start as soon as I make minor anatomy fixies.
